I build the systems that keep customers coming back.

Engagement platforms, subscriptions, and now the AI layer on top of them, across HubSpot, Grubhub, and Tripadvisor.

Grubhub+ subscribers after we launched it as an Amazon Prime benefit

I owned Grubhub+, and my team built the Prime integration. It drove tens of millions of orders, and a white-label Grubhub inside Amazon's app added another 30% in subscribers.

How I work

Leading teams and building alongside them

As a product leader

  • Set portfolio strategy across eight engineering teams at HubSpot and a three-year lifecycle strategy at Grubhub, with executive buy-in for both.
  • Hired four PMs across Grubhub and HubSpot, promoted a PM to Senior PM at Grubhub, and led a team of six PMs, including PM managers, at Tripadvisor.
  • Helped overhaul Grubhub's PM interview process with Product Ops.
  • Turned a proof of concept into an 11-engineer segmentation team that opened an eight-figure pricing and ads opportunity.

As a hands-on builder

  • Design platforms other teams build on, with the operating model, governance, and attribution that let them scale.
  • Ship 0-to-1 fast, measure against a control, then scale what works.
  • Use AI to multiply a small team. At HubSpot I built a Claude-based planning system that drafted roadmaps and requirements for eight engineering teams, and I merged a production PR myself.

How two PMs kept eight engineering teams moving

I had two PMs for eight teams and 30+ engineers, and I personally covered four or five teams with no dedicated PM. Adding headcount wasn’t an option, so I changed how we worked.

8engineering teams run by me and two PMs
Fundedmore engineering capacity through an investment proposal
5% → 100%of customers eligible for in-product marketing
3quarters on the new model, with dozens of PRDs shipped

The constraint

With so little PM capacity, there wasn’t time for product discovery or to define clear success metrics, scope, and requirements for dozens of projects in each six-week sprint. Without the necessary prework, important bets stall.

What I built

An AI-assisted product operating system built on HubSpot’s approved AI tools, using our team’s docs, discussions, and shared context. Reusable instructions turned customer evidence and team discussions into roadmap proposals, requirements, definitions of done, and prototypes.

Where judgment stayed human

I owned every output. I reviewed requirements first, refined them with engineering, and finalized them only when we both agreed. When the AI underestimated permissions requirements for a targeting feature, we corrected it, because it changed what the feature could deliver.

How the team changed

New working agreements let engineers make scope and implementation calls, coordinate dependencies, and validate their own work. Anything that changed the definition of done came back to me. UX took on more ownership, and I taught my PMs to run the workflow on their own.

What it unlocked

Marketing wanted to bring its programs into the product, but it wasn’t on our roadmap. I gathered requirements from Marketing and CS, negotiated sequencing with engineering, and finalized a proposal for executive review, which won alignment from senior product and marketing leadership and secured additional engineering capacity.

The result

We kept shipping notifications and data governance work, expanded in-product marketing eligibility from 5% to 100% of customers, and built a repeatable way for a constrained team to keep delivering without giving up judgment.

From people I've worked with

In their words

“She is able to identify gaps and edge cases seemingly at a glance, and has solutions at the ready to fill them… There is no problem space too big for her to break down, understand well, and fix elegantly.”
Kenji Hirabayashi · Engineering Manager, HubSpot
“Lauren works really well with all the stakeholders… and gained a lot of respect from people in the team. She was the one to orchestrate the show to make our successful launch of the Rental Car product.”
